ImageFilter™ v4.0 for Objectionable Images is now in Public Release -- Still the Most Accurate, Fastest Image Filter

"We've incorporated the idiosyncracies of cameraphone images and sped up decoding and scoring time. We've broadened our lead in both speed and accuracy."

Santa Barbara, CA - April 28th, 2006 - VIMA Technologies, Inc. announced today that ImageFilter™ v4.0 is out of beta testing and is now available for broader distribution. ImageFilter™ for Objectionable Images is the leading automatic image filter for detecting and scoring images relative to their objectionable nature, specifically pornographic. As with all VIMA products, ImageFilter™ v4.0 is available for both Linux and Windows environments.

"Beginning with version 2.0, VIMA developed the reputation for providing the most accurate, fastest, and least demanding software available for detecting pornographic images. ImageFilter is used on every continent except Antartica in hardware appliances, email security software, and web servers to identify pornography where text-based solutions are just not good enough. You can imagine with the proliferation of cameraphones, high-speed connections, and social networking sites that the number of images are exploding. Not only that, but the nature of the objectionable images is expanding, too. It’s no longer just magazine quality full-length nudes. Today’s pornographic images are more likely to be amateur, anonymous body parts. Our latest version addresses this new class of images which has allowed us to continue to win head-to-head competitions on performance, worldwide," David Telleen-Lawton, President and CEO explained.

In the past, VIMA has announced long-term contracts with IntelliReach Corporation of Dedham , MA and Group Technologies AG of Karlsruhe, Germany. More recent contracts have not been made public, but the demand for blocking pornography continues to grow. Telleen-Lawton points out, "There are always a few bad apples and business people without a strong social conscience which think titillating images are funny or lucrative. Unfortunately they’re right about lucrative, but the repercussions relative to the exploitation of humans for voyeuristic entertainment is a largely ignored human disaster. We’re glad to be one of the companies fighting for stronger social responsibility on the part of companies and governments. It’s always the best business decision."

VIMA provides ImageFilter on a licensed basis for integration into broader application solutions. Both one-time purchase with on-going support and software subscriptions are available to suit the business circumstances of individual customers.
