IntelliReach Corporation Ships 40,000th Seat Employing VIMA’s ImageBeagle for Filtering Objectionable Images

IntelliReach continues to use their industry-leading text-based filters, but VIMA’s software allows them to stop spammers no matter how clever they are.

Santa Barbara, CA - June 30th, 2004 - VIMA Technologies announced today that one of their customers, IntelliReach Corporation of Dedham, Massachusetts has shipped their 40,000th seat of MessageScreen that includes VIMA’s explicit image filtering software.

“IntelliReach was one of the first email management companies to recognize that to maintain their lead in spam filtering; they must continue to innovate to thwart increasing sophisticated spammers.  One of the recent spam techniques is to hide identifying text clues inside images and to stop using file names that hint that the content is not benign.”, explained Whit Gaither, VIMA’s VP for Business Development.  “We worked with IntelliReach to tailor our off-the-shelf image filter to meet their target customer needs.”

VIMA’s objectionable image filtering software is known as one of the fastest and most accurate in the business.  The software quickly decodes almost any image file format, extracts visual information, and then scores the image according to the filter’s category settings.  For IntelliReach, VIMA trained the filter to spot pornographic images, even in the small, tiled email message images. IntelliReach continues to use their industry-leading text-based filters, but VIMA’s software allows them to stop spammers no matter how clever they are.

“VIMA’s advanced image filtering was exactly what we were looking for late last year when we knew we needed a way to differentiate our product and keep up with the spammers who were increasingly using text obfuscation”, recalled Jeff Coveney, IntelliReach’s MessageScreen product manager.  “We’re a bit more innovative and a bit faster moving than our competitors and VIMA’s pornographic filtering capabilities have allowed a significant number of our customers to protect their employees more thoroughly.  We’re working with VIMA to expand their protection to our entire installed base.”

VIMA’s patented image search and image categorization processes allow it to lead the industry in content-based image search and categorization for both speed and accuracy.  VIMA is probably best known for the only active learning image search solution in the market and the only company offering tunable image categorization and filtering solutions.  VIMA Technologies, Inc. is a privately financed company located in Goleta California, just across the street from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  For more information, visit: www.VIMAtech.com.
