Senior Software Engineer/Developer: C, Win32, UNIX, GUI, Web

VIMA Technologies has an immediate opening for a Software Developer to expand our development team in Goleta, California.  This position reports to the CTO.

Position Summary:

VIMA’s specialty is imagery information systems based on visual clues (www.VIMATech.com). We are delivering breakthrough solutions to image categorization, image filtering, and image search applications.  We are looking for an experienced developer who can blend with our existing development team to create new-to-the-world commercial-quality applications and SDKs that deliver VIMA’s image filtering and image search functionality. 

Responsibilities for this individual include:

• Prepares detailed systems designs of client-side and server-side applications
• Documents and communicates architecture and design to others on the work team
• Develops code for client-side and server-side application components that is reusable and easy to maintain and troubleshoot
• Debugs and tests written components
• Maintains confidentiality of company’s and clients?source code, product designs, and other proprietary and strategic information
• Participates in estimating project timelines and resources, reviews progress, and adjusts schedule and scope
• Participates in reviewing other software developers?designs and code
• Researches new software development platforms and tools, reports findings, and trains peers as needed
• Conducts maintenance and customization programming for shipping products
• Other duties as assigned.

 Ideal Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Five plus (5+) years experience with full lifecycle software development projects
• Solid project design and development experience using object-oriented methodology
• Experience of developing applications on both Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms
• Prior GUI development experience using VC++
• Prior ASP and .NET development experience
• Working knowledge and experience with Sun J2EE and PHP server-side technologies
• Working knowledge and experience with JavaScript for Web
• C, C++, Java, C# programming languages
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to participate as a member of a team in a project-oriented environment
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated without daily supervision
• Ability to accept and provide feedback on work product.
